Thanks Julie! I do not know what is going on with my email!..I have made these cannales before, and well..not as perfect as i would like...Glad to have another try this month!
I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of this group...I love this cookbook. And for once I'm ahead of the game...has anyone else been tempted to drink the batter ? Sandy
Julie, I substituted apple juice for the rum. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm making mine in silicone muffin molds. No idea how long to bake them so wish me luck!
OK, I baked them this morning and they were phenomenal! I didn't have a cannele pan so they were a bit squat. A huge hit at work and very fun to make. Subbing apple juice for the rum worked well.
I had made these before I discovered this wonderful group ! Canneles have been my favorite dessert and these chocolate ones are incredible. You can see my post at http://eatlovetravel.blogspot.com/2010/03/chocoholic-friday.html. Sandy

These can be made in muffin tins if cannelle pans are not available (i don't have them, so probably no one else will!)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know what a cannelle was, let alone what the pan might look like. :} But, I know now.
ReplyDeleteI am going to try and make mine in a mini bundt pan. Yes, I do plan to make this month's CWF! :)
ReplyDeleteMy canelés are up and they were a hit! Couldn't find a canelé mold (seen them a million times before now, but not when I actually need one) so I improvised with a mini cakelette pan

Julie, you could use rum extract, or vanilla, ... you may have to decrease the amount flavor to your taste...:)
